South Carolina Student Loan

Voice Your Support Today!

Dear Friends,

On behalf of SC Student Loan, thank you for your loyal support of our loan programs and services. Today, I am writing to update you regarding our industry and to respectfully ask for your support by writing a letter to your congressional representatives and senators.

The President has released his 2010 Federal Budget, which contains a proposal calling for the complete elimination of the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP).  We understand that higher education is clearly a priority for his administration and we wholeheartedly support his intentions of increasing funding for the neediest students to attend college.  In fact, our state-based, nonprofit organization has been supporting college goals of students and parents for over 35 years by providing money and time saving benefits for borrowers and financial support for education. However, we believe that the State of South Carolina is far better served by our local FFELP organization than a big government out-of-state contractor through Direct Lending.

SC Student Loan, along with other FFELP providers, enable students and parents with no income, credit history, cosigner or collateral to get student loans at low interest rates.  FFELP is the only federal student loan program that offers consumer choice.  Choice means competition, better service, continuous innovation and lower-cost loans.  Therefore, paying for college is more convenient, reliable and affordable for families.  FFELP loan providers do more than just loans – they also offer valuable programs and services such as financial aid seminars and debt management workshops at no charge.

If you believe that South Carolina students and parents benefit from having a local, nonprofit organization supporting the student loan program and providing college outreach services and programming, I encourage you to contact your congressional representatives and senators today letting them know you believe FFELP is important and should not be eliminated.

To assist you in your letter writing, we have created several sample support letters (click here)  for your use and listed the names and addresses of our state congressional representatives (click here).

Thank you again for your support of your local student loan provider and the Federal Family Education Loan Program. It is critical that we collectively voice our opinions today.

In appreciation,

Chuck Sanders
President & CEO
